Personal tutors

Your personal tutor is there to offer you general guidance on academic issues, such as choice of modules, and assist in dealing with any personal queries or difficulties you may have.

Study skills

The University and the School operate various study skills resources through which you can develop your skills in note-taking, reading effectively, doing presentations, preparing for exams, writing essays and using IT resources effectively.

Student support

We are here to support you from the moment you arrive at Leeds.

Our aspirations go beyond academic and teaching excellence; we are also concerned for your welfare outside the classroom. Our support and administrative staff exceed all expectations in student support and add to the friendly and stimulating atmosphere of our school.

We have a committed Student Representative Committee (SRC), to represent the interests of students, who are invited to staff meetings where student matters are discussed; they also run regular 'surgeries' where students can voice any concerns and raise suggestions.

We also provide pastoral care through a system of Personal Tutors, who are available to discuss academic, career and personal matters. All students are assigned a personal tutor from among the academic staff. We also have a dedicated Student Support Officer that can provide support of a more personal nature ensuring the well-being of our students.

The School also runs a 'buddying' scheme, where new students are able to call on the experience and knowledge of second and third year students within the school.

Of course, you can also 'drop by' the Undergraduate Office for day-to-day support.
