Our school brings together academics from across political, international, and development disciplines.

Much of our work is highly international in orientation, and our academic expertise covers all the main regions of the world.

Taught postgraduate courses

We offer taught MA degree programmes in the areas of Global Development, International Relations and Security, and Politics.

Research postgraduate degrees

We promote excellence in research in the core disciplines of politics and international studies, and we are particularly committed to promoting interdisciplinary research.  In terms of defined interests, we can provide supervisory support across a wide range of specialisms and cross-cutting topics.

Student profile

Whilst studying for my MA I applied for a 5 month internship with the British NGO Development in Action (DIA).

I was accepted as intern to a researcher in the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation unit of one of DIA's partner organisations, Seva Mandir in Udaipur, India.

Staff profile

Dr Brad Evans has recently launched his Ten Years of Terror symposia through The Guardian’s Comment Is Free news source.

This coincides with the launch of his wider research project, ‘Histories of Violence’, which provides an open access resource centre which critically explores the wider problematic of violence.

From research led seminar series and external guest lectures to careers talks, you will have the chance to engage with some of the most stimulating topics in devopment, politics and international and security.
