What made you decide to do this MA programme?
I looked at many different courses which had either an international relations/ terrorism/ security angle and settled upon this at Leeds due to its location and reputation.

Why did you choose to study at POLIS?
Mainly its reputation as a good university and its location due to having a family close to Leeds.

What do you think of your course so far?
I gained a wide knowledge of terrorism at undergraduate level. At MA level I have enjoyed all the classes especially the debates in European Security and Defence analysis.

What have you enjoyed most about the course so far?
The level of lecturing standard. Its been good throughout, and of course the library facilities.

What would you say about the facilities in the School and at the University in general?
The libraries are excellent but more copies of key texts could be held in the Brotherton library for loan periods longer than one week, ideally for a month period.

What would you say to anyone thinking of applying to your course?
Get reading now. Terrorism is a vast subject, I have been lucky enough to have gained both practical and theoretical experience of it.

Tell us about your favourite lecturer
It's difficult to answer, if I am forced; Dr Neil Winn just for his sense of humour in seminars.

What do you hope to be doing once you graduate?
I will be working in governmental circles once I have graduated.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Ride motorcycles, read (of course), maintain a wife and look after two kids which were both born while studying for my undergraduate degree (note for future students: don’t emulate this if you can!!!)

What are your plans for the future?
I would love to come back in a few years and start a Ph.D but at my age (34) I hope not to leave it too late.

Is there anything you would change about POLIS?
The department could do with a new building; it has too many internal rooms and the lecturers are spread across multiple buildings on the campus. I would also recommend that all staff actively use the electronic teaching aids to upload class notes after each lecture.
