POLIS undergraduate students present their reports to the House of Lords’ EU Scrutiny Committee
On Tuesday 19 March, three POLIS undergraduate students - Jo Gardner, Madelaine Lee, and Paul Mcgrath - travelled down to London to present their reports from POLIS module ‘Britain and the EU’ to the House of Lords’ EU Scrutiny Committee chaired by Lord Boswell.
The Chairman and other members of the Committee met with the three students and module leader Dr Charles Dannreuther to discuss the Committee’s enlargement inquiry and parallel research work conducted by the students.
Dr Dannreuther (pictured outside the Palace of Westminster) said “This event helps to showcase the potential contribution that the UK’s 2.5 million undergraduates could make on technical areas of policy and demonstrates a practical route for engaging younger people with Parliamentary politics”
‘Britain and the EU’ is an example of a POLIS research based module in which students are required to answer an issue of contemporary relevance by gathering primary data and analysing it using analytical frames developed in the module.
