The Scottish Question and the Referendum

Professor James Mitchell (University of Edinburgh) will consider the nature of the current debate and the prospect of the referendum of solving 'The Scottish Question'.

This talk will set the current referendum into a wider context, examining the nature of what Professor Mitchell refers to as the 'Scottish Question'.  It will consider the nature of the current debate and consider the prospect of the referendum resolving the question.

The presentation will draw on work for a book coming out in a few months called 'The Scottish Question' (Oxford Uni Press) written as part of an ESRC Fellowship.
