The first POLIS Forum of the year will be a special on the topical issues of terrorism and terrorism-prevention.

Dr Gordon Clubb

Gordon recently finished his PhD research in POLIS and is now a lecturer in international security. His talk will focus on the challenges and strategies of preventing terrorism among the next generation, with case studies and exciting details from the fieldwork he's done in Ireland.

Katie Wicker

Katie is PhD researcher within the School of Sociology and Social Policy who focuses on the role of experts in radicalization and counter-terrorism. She will address the question of how expertise is established in a contested field of knowledge such as terrorism studies. We will also hear about her research in the context of the case study she's currently working on about Syria.

We hope you will come and participate in what promises to be a stimulating discussion about the important cases and topics our speakers will raise.

BA, MA and PhD students as well as staff members from across POLIS and beyond are welcome to attend. Afterwards we'll head to the Old Bar for drinks.?
