Promoting Britain's interest in Brussels - Andy Lebrecht speaks about being the UK Permanent representative in Brussels

12 March 2013 | 5:00pm | Seminar

Lecture Theatre LG06, Liberty Building

Andy Lebrecht, until recently the UK’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the EU, will talk about his experiences negotiating on behalf of the UK in the EU.

He will explore the key factors determining influence, the “dark arts” of winning within the Brussels corridors and refer to UK successes and occasional failures, across a wide range of policy areas including the Common Agricultural Policy Climate change, the Working Time Directive, International Trade negotiations, Energy market liberalisation to Pet Passports and more.

He will address how growing Euroscepticism can erode the UK’s effectiveness in achieving her objectives in Europe and how the promised referendum could play out in Brussels over the coming years.
