Political Theory Research Seminar - Human Rights After Babel

01 May 2013 | 4.30pm | Seminar

Social Science Building Room 13.08

Dr Enes Kulenovi (University of Zagreb, Croatia) will be giving a talk on 'Human Rights After Babel'. Enes has provided the following abstract of his talk:

One of the challenges that the idea of universal human rights faces is a growing disagreement between different moral and religious traditions on the character and purpose of these rights. There are two dominant approaches to this challenge: using objective criteria to resolve the conflict between different accounts of human rights (objectivist approach) or relying on an existing/possible moral consensus to solve these conflicts (consensual approach). The goal of the lecture is to show why neither of these two approaches work and to offer an alternative solution.

All are welcome, the event is free and there is no need to book in advance.
