Information for School and College Tutors

Speakers into Schools and Colleges Programme

Our academic staff can deliver talks and hold debating sessions in your school or college. We aim most of these activities at 6th form students, or the equivalent, who study Politics, History, or a more general subject, at A level. We can link one of our talks or debates into the students' subject curriculum, or we can introduce new areas of interest to students as a booster to their intellectual development.

To discover more about our talks and debates, please visit our Speakers into School and Colleges programme page.

Coming to visit the School of Politics and International Studies

The School of Politics and International Studies can organise tailor-made visits for you and your students, where pupils can participate in various events: workshops, talks, campus tours and Q&A sessions with current students. We can design a day, or a half day, of activities that will meet the needs of your school, college or community group.

Student Ambassador Team

Students from our department can come to your school or college to share their experiences of student life. Examples of session titles include the following.

  • Why did I go to University?
  • My course and what it involves.
  • Student Life: the realities
  • Q&A session

Please visit our Student Ambassador Team page to learn more about this opportunity.

Activity Days

We arrange various dates throughout the year where pupils can interact with our academics and current students, and get involved in debating, discussion and role-playing sessions.

If you would like to know details of the next activity, or would like to request or discuss any events, please contact our Widening Participation Co-ordinator.
